Industrial Sound Design at BMW Group, Munich#
Role: Sound Design Intern
Period: January - June 2022
This experience was a turning point that significantly advanced both my professional and personal growth.
My internship at BMW was centered on developing audio tools. Working extensively within a Max/MSP environment, where I implemented real-time, interactive audio features for a multi-speaker system. This involved extending the capabilities of our core Max/MSP abstractions to create a more robust and flexible sound design environment. To streamline the design process itself, I engineered data handling solutions, including an integrated preset system for managing complex sound parameters. A key initiative was developing an automated batch file processor to optimize our audio post-processing workflow, significantly reducing manual tasks.
Key Learnings#
- Professional Skills: Hands-on experience with professional audio software workflows in the automotive industry
- Self-Reliance: Developed confidence operating independently in unfamiliar professional settings through international work experience
